U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of Canada, which is strengthening its relations with China. Targeting Canada's foreign trade preferences, Trump argued that China's influence over the country is increasing, stating that this could have serious consequences for both Canada and the U.S. Trump, who has previously suggested that Canada should be the 51st state of the U.S., said, "China is completely taking over Canada, which was once a great country."

In his statement, Trump asserted that Canada's economic relations with China have weakened the country. Saying, "China is successfully and completely taking over Canada. It is very sad to see this happen," Trump concluded his remarks with a sarcastic expression, adding, "I hope they leave hockey alone."
TO PRIME MINISTER CARNEY: GOVERNOR CARNEY
In a statement made the day before, Trump directly targeted Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, referring to him as "Governor Carney." Trump argued that Canada's commercial partnership with China would have unacceptable consequences for the U.S.
"CANADA CANNOT BE A DELIVERY PORT"
Trump stated that they would not allow Canada to become a transit point for products sent from China to the U.S., saying, "If Governor Carney thinks he can make Canada a 'delivery port' for products sent from China to the U.S., he is very much mistaken."
100% TARIFF THREAT
Trump indicated that strict economic sanctions would be implemented if Canada makes a trade agreement with China, stating, "If Canada makes a trade agreement with China, a 100% tariff will immediately be applied to all products sent from Canada to the U.S." Trump also suggested that China would negatively affect Canada's business world, social structure, and way of life.
Trump had also expressed during the time of Canada's former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the neighboring country should be the 51st state of the U.S.
