As the Trendyol Super League reached the 14th week of the 2025-2026 season, 12 teams made changes to their head coaches following poor results.
Trendyol Super League has seen 12 teams change their head coaches after 14 weeks into the 2025-2026 season due to poor results.
In the first 14 weeks of the Trendyol Super League, head coach departures have once again come to the forefront. Out of 18 teams that did not meet expectations, 12 opted for a change in management. Most recently, Kasımpaşa parted ways with Georgian head coach Shota Arveladze.
The curtain was raised by Gaziantep FK
The first team to make a directorial change in the 2025-2026 season was Gaziantep FK. The Southeast Anatolian team, which welcomed a new era under İsmet Taşdemir, parted ways with him after losing 3-0 to Galatasaray and Konyaspor in the first two weeks. Burak Yılmaz, who was appointed in place of Taşdemir, made a good start, achieving 6 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses in 12 matches.
Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Başakşehir experienced changes at the beginning of the season
Following Gaziantep, Istanbul representatives Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and RAMS Başakşehir also underwent coaching changes. The Eagles, who started the season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, were particularly affected by the early closure of their European campaign. After losing to the Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk, managed by Arda Turan, in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, the black-and-whites were eliminated by Switzerland's Lausanne in the UEFA Conference League playoff round. Following these results, Solskjaer parted ways with the club on August 28. After this separation, Beşiktaş entrusted the head coach position to Sergen Yalçın.
Fenerbahçe began the season with Jose Mourinho. Criticized for the performance last season, the Portuguese coach started the new term with 1 win and 1 draw. In the UEFA Champions League, the Canaries eliminated the Dutch team Feyenoord in the third qualifying round but were knocked out by the Portuguese team Benfica in the playoffs. Thus, the Jose Mourinho era at Fenerbahçe also came to an end on August 29. Following Mourinho, Domenico Tedesco became the new head coach of the yellow-navy team.
RAMS Başakşehir was eliminated by the Romanian team Craiova in the playoff stage of the UEFA Conference League and, after experiencing 2 draws in the league, parted ways with Çağdaş Atan. Başakşehir entrusted the team to Nuri Şahin, who also managed Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Selçuk Şahin and Gisdol's adventures did not last long
Last season, Eyüpspor finished 6th in the Super League under Arda Turan. After Turan took over Shakhtar Donetsk, the team agreed with Selçuk Şahin, who was an assistant to Vincenco Montella in the national team. However, after collecting only 5 points from 1 win, 2 draws, and 5 losses in 8 matches, the purple-yellow team thanked Şahin. Another team that changed coaches during the break for international matches was Kayserispor. The Kayseri team managed to collect only 5 points with 5 draws and 3 losses in 8 matches, leading to the end of Markus Gisdol's tenure. The yellow-reds only scored 5 goals during this period while conceding 17.
Emre Belözoğlu remained in charge for 267 days
Another team that experienced a coaching change in the Super League was Antalyaspor. Under Emre Belözoğlu, the red-whites had 3 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses in 8 matches. Particularly, the 1-1 draw against Kayserispor, the 2-0 loss to Fenerbahçe, and the 5-2 defeat against Rizespor in the last 3 weeks made separation inevitable. Following these results, head coach Emre Belözoğlu submitted his resignation to the management, which was accepted.
After Belözoğlu, Erol Bulut was appointed as the new head coach. Under Bulut's management, the Antalya team left the field with 1 win, 1 draw, and 4 losses in 6 matches.
New teams Gençlerbirliği and Fatih Karagümrük also made changes
Gençlerbirliği and Fatih Karagümrük, who returned to the Super League this season, were also among the teams that made changes. After collecting 8 points from 2 wins, 2 draws, and 6 losses in the first 10 weeks of the league, the capital team bid farewell to head coach Hüseyin Eroğlu. Volkan Demirel took over after Eroğlu.
Fatih Karagümrük also parted ways with Marcel Licka, who could not achieve the expected breakthrough, after the 10th week. Licka experienced 1 win, 1 draw, and 8 losses in the 10 matches he managed. Karagümrük then decided to continue with Onur Can Korkmaz.
Recep Uçar and İlhan Palut collected the same points
Konyaspor head coach Recep Uçar and Çaykur Rizespor head coach İlhan Palut parted ways with their teams after collecting the same points despite different numbers of matches.
Palut recorded 14 points with 3 wins, 5 draws, and 6 losses in 14 matches in Rize. Meanwhile, Recep Uçar achieved 14 points with 4 wins, 2 draws, and 5 losses in 11 matches at Konyaspor. Both head coaches parted ways with their teams.
After Uçar, Çağdaş Atan took over at Konyaspor, while Recep Uçar filled Palut's position after leaving Konya.
The last separation was from Kasımpaşa
The last team to experience a coaching change in the Super League was Kasımpaşa. The navy-blue and white team announced the end of head coach Shota Arveladze's tenure. Under Shota's management, Kasımpaşa remained at 13 points with 3 wins, 4 draws, and 7 losses in 14 matches. - ISTANBUL
