Shortly after departing from Kyrenia Harbor, the passenger ship capsized. Regarding this incident, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Tufan Erhürman, made statements on a live broadcast. Erhürman stated that search efforts for the 20 missing people continue both on the sea surface and underwater using a vessel equipped with robotic technology, saying, 'The sunken ship was detected at 550 meters.'

Erhürman stated that the search efforts for the 20 people missing in the ship disaster are being conducted with extreme sensitivity and may therefore take time, noting that the TCG Işın, belonging to the Turkish Naval Forces, began operations today, and the second ship, TCG Alemdar, will be off Girne tomorrow.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The high-speed passenger ship named "Filo Jet," operating on the route between Girne Port in the TRNC and Taşucu Port in Mersin, began taking on water from its front section shortly after departing from Girne on Sunday afternoon.
The ship capsized while trying to return to Girne Port.
While 241 people were rescued from the ship, the bodies of 8 people were recovered, and search efforts continue for the 20 missing people.
It is reported that the sunken wreckage of the ship has been found at a depth of 514 meters in the sea.
