In the Menteşe district of Muğla, after relatives could not reach them, the bodies of restaurant owner Berfin Zelal Kaya and her ex-boyfriend Mehmet Akkaya, from whom she had separated 5 months ago, were found in an apartment entered with a locksmith. It was determined that Akkaya murdered Kaya by shooting her in the head with an unlicensed pistol, then took his own life with the same weapon.

A night of horror in the Menteşe district of Muğla. 30-year-old Mehmet Akkaya killed his ex-girlfriend Berfin Zelal Kaya (28) by shooting her in the head with a pistol, approximately 5 months after they broke up, and then committed suicide with the same gun.

The incident occurred around 03:00 AM in an apartment building on 56th Street, Kötekli Neighborhood, Menteşe district. Relatives of Berfin Zelal Kaya, who runs a restaurant in the district, reported her missing to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

POLICE ENTERING THE HOUSE WITNESSED A HORRIFYING SCENE

Upon the report, police and medical teams were quickly dispatched to the address. Entering the house with the help of a locksmith, security forces found Berfin Zelal Kaya and Mehmet Akkaya lying lifeless on the floor, both shot in the head. Medical teams confirmed that both individuals had lost their lives.

SPREAD TERROR WITH AN UNLICENSED PISTOL

Investigations at the scene revealed that Mehmet Akkaya came to the home of his ex-girlfriend Berfin Zelal Kaya, from whom he had separated about 5 months earlier, murdered Kaya by shooting her in the head with the unlicensed pistol he had brought, and then took his own life with the same weapon.

After the detailed work of the crime scene investigation teams, the bodies of the unfortunate woman and the murder suspect were taken to the Muğla Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy. A comprehensive investigation into the incident is ongoing.
