As voting continued in the US midterm elections, held to determine control of Congress—composed of the House of Representatives and the Senate—during the second half of President Donald Trump's term, NASA astronauts cast their votes in space.

NASA astronauts Anil Menon, Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, stationed on the International Space Station, cast their votes via electronic ballot for the midterm elections held to determine control of Congress and sent them to their respective voting districts.

SLEEPING COMPARTMENT BECAME A VOTING BOOTH

In a video he shared, Menon stated that the sleeping compartment on the station also serves as a voting booth, and said that the votes they cast via computer were sent to Harris County in the state of Texas. Harris County is home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center and Mission Control Center.

Meanwhile, U.S. astronauts have been voting in space since 1997.
