In the Edremit district of Balıkesir, an intoxicated driver and two suspects with him were taken into custody after they followed an intercity passenger bus in traffic, cut it off, and damaged the vehicle. A total administrative fine of 657,719 TL was imposed on the driver and his companions.
THEY CUT OFF THE PASSENGER BUS
The incident occurred at midnight on the E-87 highway near the Güre and Akçay neighborhoods. According to allegations, while the intercity passenger bus with license plate 34 KS 418, driven by M.O., was traveling, it was followed for a long time by a car with license plate 17 ZB 46, driven by R.M.Ö. The car driver cut in front of the bus near the Güre neighborhood and stopped the vehicle.
R.M.Ö., along with F.K. and the juvenile offender A.K.K., got out of the car and damaged the bus's windshield wipers. After the incident, the bus driver closed the doors and continued on his way. Those moments were recorded by passengers using their mobile phone cameras. The suspects continued to harass the bus by following it to the Akçay Bus Terminal. Upon receiving a report, teams from the Akçay Police Station of the Edremit District Police Department took the suspects into custody at the Akçay Bus Terminal.
657 THOUSAND LIRA FINE
During the inspection, it was determined that the driver R.M.Ö. had a blood alcohol level of 4.11 promill. The driver and the individuals in the vehicle were subjected to a total administrative fine of 657,719 TL for offenses including aggressive tailgating and exiting the vehicle in traffic, driving without a driver's license, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, the driver's license was suspended for 8 months, and the car was impounded for 60 days.
