Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that with the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Line Project, they will reduce the travel time on the Mersin-Gaziantep route from 6 hours and 23 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a written statement regarding the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Line Project.
"WE WILL REDUCE THE TRAVEL TIME TO 2 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES"
Uraloğlu pointed out that with the project, they have rebuilt the existing distance of 361 kilometers on the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep route to a high standard for freight and suitable for a speed of 200 kilometers per hour for passenger trains, stating, "In the new situation, we will reduce the route to 312.5 kilometers. With the project, we will reduce the travel time on the Mersin-Gaziantep route from 6 hours and 23 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes. With a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour, we aim to carry an average of 3.1 million passengers and approximately 37.1 million tons of freight annually on this line." he evaluated.
"WE HAVE ACHIEVED 85% PROGRESS, WE AIM TO COMPLETE IT IN 2028"
Minister Uraloğlu drew attention to the fact that with this line, Gaziantep's industrial production will reach world markets much faster through the Port of Mersin. Noting that they have constructed a total of 11 viaducts with 13 tunnels and 32 bridges, totaling 6,396 meters in length, Uraloğlu stated, "We have achieved 85% progress overall on the line. We have achieved 90% progress on the Çukurova Airport connection. We are at 80% on the Tarsus crossing. We have also completed the 17-kilometer section on the Toprakkale-Mamure route. We aim to complete our construction works for the entire project in 2028." he stated.
