The first concrete effect of the fluctuations in global markets due to the rise in oil prices in the US-Israel-Iran war has been observed in Turkey. The Energy Market Regulatory Authority announced a 25% increase in electricity and natural gas prices. The new tariff will be effective starting tomorrow.

ELECTRICITY AND NATURAL GAS INCREASED BY 25%
An announcement that will upset citizens has come from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK). A 25% increase has been made in electricity and natural gas prices. EPDK stated that the new tariff will be effective from tomorrow.
The statement included the following remarks: "Due to the increase in electricity production and distribution costs, a 25% increase has been made in the final electricity retail sales prices for residential subscriber groups, a 17.5% increase for public and private service sector subscriber groups connected to low voltage, a 5.8% increase for industrial subscriber groups connected to medium voltage, and a 24.8% increase for agricultural activities subscriber groups connected to medium voltage."
VALID FROM TOMORROW
With this increase, the amount to be paid for a residential subscriber with a consumption of 100 kWh of electricity has become 323.8 TL.
In light of the wholesale natural gas prices announced on BOTAŞ's website, there is an average increase of 25% in the final natural gas sales prices for residential consumers (household consumers), an average increase of 18.61% for industrial consumers, and an average increase of 19.42% for electricity generation plants. Additionally, a tiered pricing system has been implemented for residential consumers (household consumers).
