Russia has imposed a fine of 4 million rubles on Telegram for not blocking access to certain content.

In Russia, Telegram has been fined 4 million rubles (approximately $43,000) for not blocking access to certain content.

The case against the Russian messaging application Telegram was heard in the capital city of Moscow.

4 MILLION RUBLE FINE FOR TELEGRAM

The court concluded that the platform did not comply with the law by not blocking access to certain prohibited content, and ordered Telegram to pay a fine of 4 million rubles.

Furthermore, various foreign platforms such as Google and TikTok have previously been fined for similar reasons in the country.
