5 suspects detained in connection with the armed attack on the Otokoç General Directorate building in Maltepe have been arrested. While the suspects, including individuals under the age of 18, have been sent to prison, efforts continue to capture 3 fugitive suspects believed to be linked to the attack.

After being taken into custody regarding the armed attack on the Otokoç General Directorate building at Saygı Caddesi, Aydınevler Mahallesi, Maltepe district of Istanbul, the suspects were referred to the courthouse, and their proceedings at the prosecutor's office have been completed.

5 SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Five suspects, four of whom were under the age of 18, gave statements at the prosecutor's office and were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest. The judgeship decided to arrest the suspects in line with the request. It was learned that efforts to capture the three fugitive suspects are ongoing.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 7, two masked individuals opened fire with a gun at the Otokoç General Directorate building in Aydınevler Mahallesi and fled, with two bullets hitting the building during the attack.

Investigations in the area determined that the suspects discarded their weapons and clothes in the garden of a nearby shopping mall after the incident and then fled by taxi.

As a result of police efforts to identify the suspects' escape routes, two suspects were quickly caught and taken into custody.

In ongoing operations, three more suspects were apprehended, bringing the total number of detainees to five.

After their processing at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse yesterday.

In a statement from the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was said: 'Regarding the incident of opening fire on the Otokoç General Directorate located in Aydınevler Mahallesi, Maltepe district, investigation procedures have been initiated immediately. The ongoing investigation is being conducted meticulously.'

NOT THE FIRST ATTACK ON KOÇ GROUP

Armed attacks had been carried out on Otokoç branches in Istanbul and Diyarbakır, as well as on Yapı Kredi branches in Antalya and Istanbul, which are part of Koç Holding.

TIMING OF ATTACKS DREW ATTENTION

The successive attacks following Rahmi Koç's 'Kurdish female patient' joke during a hospital opening in Izmir drew attention.
