The French Ministry of Justice announced that since the beginning of the high school protests, 6,877 people have been taken into custody, 86 percent of whom are minors. The Ministry stated that 21 people had been arrested.
It was reported that within the scope of protests organized by high school students in France for better education conditions, 6,877 people were taken into custody and 21 people were arrested.
NEARLY 7,000 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY
The French Ministry of Justice published a statement on its website regarding the high school protests that have continued in the country for days. According to the statement, since the beginning of the high school protests, 6,877 people have been taken into custody, 86 percent of whom were minors.
While legal proceedings were initiated against 2,376 of those taken into custody, 1,547 of these people appeared before a judge.
21 PEOPLE ARRESTED
While a total of 21 people, including 6 minors, were arrested, various measures such as bans on appearing in certain public places or unpaid community service were imposed on 1,897 people.
No additional information was given about the status of the other people taken into custody. The high school protests, launched on September 17 with the demand to improve education conditions in France, grew and spread to many cities with the support of different segments of society.
Within the scope of the protests in which more than 1,000 people were injured in the country, at least 21 investigations had been launched regarding cases of police violence.
