In an operation centered in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari and spanning 5 provinces, legal proceedings were initiated against 17 suspects for laundering criminal proceeds obtained from drug trafficking. 148 real properties and 17 vehicles worth approximately 5 billion TL were seized. Minister of the Interior Mr. Mustafa Çiftçi issued the following message regarding the operation: 'We will not leave you any wealth you gained from crime!'
The Ministry of Interior announced that following approximately a year of work aimed at laundering the criminal proceeds obtained from drug trafficking, simultaneous operations were carried out in 5 provinces.
The operation, coordinated by the General Directorate of Security's Department of Combating Narcotic Crimes and the Yüksekova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was carried out by teams from the Hakkâri Provincial Police Department's Narcotic Crimes Combating Branch Directorate.
THE TRAIL OF CRIMINAL PROCEEDS WAS TRACED THROUGH FINANCIAL DATA
According to the Ministry's statement, within the scope of the investigation, financial data and financial analyses obtained from the MASAK Presidency were evaluated together with the information and evidence obtained by narcotics units.
Upon detection of activities aimed at laundering criminal proceeds through various commercial activities, companies, real estate, and vehicles, simultaneous operations were organized in Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, and Van, with Yüksekova as the center.
148 PROPERTIES AND 17 VEHICLES SEIZED
As a result of the operations, legal proceedings were initiated against 17 suspects. A total of 148 properties—86 plots of land, 34 fields, 18 residences, 7 shops, and 3 buildings—worth approximately 5 billion TL, along with 17 vehicles, were seized.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the fight against the financial resources of criminal organizations continues resolutely, and made the following statements:
“We are closing not only the poison networks of drug traffickers, but also, one by one, the doors to the unjust gains they obtain from crime. We resolutely continue our operations against the financial resources of criminal focal points in every corner of our country.”
MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ: NO WAY FOR BLACK MONEY!
Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi also evaluated the operation in a statement from his X account with the message “NO WAY FOR BLACK MONEY!”
Çiftçi, stating that they will not allow those trying to launder proceeds obtained from drug trafficking, said the following:
“We will not give way to those who attempt to launder proceeds obtained from drug trafficking! We will continue to trace criminal proceeds hiding behind companies, real estate, and commercial activities. We will not leave you with any wealth you have gained from crime!”
Çiftçi congratulated the Police Organization, the Hakkâri Provincial Police Department, and the Yüksekova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which coordinated the investigation, for their efforts in the fight.
