67 live pythons were seized in a car with foreign license plates at the Kapıkule Border Crossing. The snakes, placed in socks, were found in bags thrown into the trash by the suspects; a fine of 948,739 Turkish liras was imposed on suspects of Serbian nationality.

While 67 live pythons that were attempted to be smuggled into Turkey through the Kapıkule Customs Gate by illegal means were seized, a total administrative fine of 948,739 lira was imposed on the individuals involved in the incident.

PYTHON SNAKES CAME OUT OF THE BAG

The foreign-plated car that arrived at the Kapıkule Border Gate to enter Turkey was sent for X-ray scanning upon the suspicion of customs protection teams. The plastic bags that the suspects threw into the trash while going to the scanning were examined.

Inside the bags were 67 live python species snakes placed inside socks.

FINE IMPOSED

A fine of 948,739 lira was imposed on the suspects determined to be Serbian nationals. The snakes were delivered to the Edirne Branch Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.
