A student lost their life in an elevator accident at Huaqiao University in Fujian Province, China. Due to a malfunction of the elevator, the student became trapped between the elevator floor and the door frame, resulting in their death. Following the incident, the university president, Jia Yimin, announced that an investigation would be launched.

A architecture student waiting for the elevator on the third floor stepped inside when the doors opened. Just at that moment, the elevator suddenly moved upward. The student was crushed between the elevator's floor and the door frame, resulting in their death.
Another student who witnessed the incident stated that their friend was initially surprised but did not seem worried. When the elevator suddenly shot up, the student did not have a chance to react, and while the upper part of their body and left leg remained inside the elevator, the rest was left hanging outside.
When rescue teams arrived at the scene, it was determined that the student, whose lungs were crushed and could not breathe, had lost their life.
After the incident, university president Jia Yimin announced that an investigation would be launched. Education authorities announced that safety inspections would be conducted on all university elevators. In the past month, there have been six serious elevator accidents in China, five of which resulted in fatalities.
