In an incident that occurred last Sunday in Arizona, a two-and-a-half-year-old child ran onto a busy road while wearing a diaper. Footage captured by a vehicle's camera shows cars traveling at 70 kilometers per hour swerving at the last moment to avoid hitting the child. The most striking moment of the incident was when a woman, seeing the child staggering along the dark road, quickly ran to scoop him up. At that moment, a female driver passing by, who could be heard screaming on the vehicle's camera, was with her 7-year-old son. The woman said, "I panicked thinking I would have to watch a child get run over. Since I couldn't stop traffic, I just honked the horn to try to alert the child." The father, who was not home at the time of the incident, learned about the situation through the camera at the doorbell. When the woman who saved the child brought him home, it turned out that the father's 9-month-old other baby was also outside. The father stated, "When I opened the door, an unfamiliar woman was holding my child in her arms. She said my children were running in the middle of the road. I am grateful to that woman; I would like to thank her in person." The Maricopa County police have launched an investigation into the incident. The mother is being investigated for child neglect. The woman who saved the children said, "I risked my own life, but saving a child's life is more important than anything." This incident once again highlighted the need for families with small children to be more vigilant about home safety.
