The renewal period for old-style driving licenses expires on July 31. Those who do not apply to renew their old licenses by the specified date will face a hefty fine and will completely lose their right to drive. Drivers with B-class licenses who do not renew by the deadline will have to pay 7,438 lira instead of 15 lira.

According to information obtained from the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, a total of 32 million 817 thousand 997 applications for driver's license renewal have been made so far. If the 3 million 549 thousand 583 drivers who continue to use their old driver's licenses do not complete the renewal process by August 1, their licenses will be considered invalid.
IT WILL RISE TO 7 THOUSAND 438 LIRA
Old type driver's licenses can be renewed for 15 lira until July 31, 2025. After this date, the renewal fee for class B driver's licenses will rise to 7 thousand 438 lira. Those who wish to renew their driver's licenses can make an appointment through the Alo 199 Call Center, mobile application, or "nvi.gov.tr", complete the necessary documents, and apply to the population directorates.
NEW LICENSES ARE DELIVERED TO ADDRESSES
Those who want to renew their licenses must present their old driver's licenses, pay the 15 lira application fee, submit a driver's health report obtained from authorized health institutions, provide a biometric photo taken within the last 6 months, and inform their registered address in the Central Population Administration System (MERNIS).
The new driver's licenses of the applicants are printed by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs and delivered to their addresses via PTT. During this process, vehicles can be used with a temporary driver's license obtained from population directorates or through e-Government.
5 STEPS TO RENEW A DRIVER'S LICENSE
According to information obtained from the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, the old type driver's license can be renewed in the following 5 steps:
1- Appointment booking:
Before starting the procedures, an appointment must be made for population directorates through the NVİ Internet Portal (https://randevu.nvi.gov.tr), Alo 199 Call Center, or NVİ Mobile Application.
2- Preparation of necessary documents:
For the application, an old type driver's license, a receipt showing that a payment of 15 lira (13 lira for the value paper fee and 2 lira for the foundation share) has been made (can be paid through the Revenue Administration's website https://ivd.gib.gov.tr or from contracted banks), a driver's health report issued by authorized health institutions valid for 2 years, and 1 biometric photo taken within the last 6 months are required.
3- Going to the application location:
With the prepared documents, the application is made by going to any population directorate with or without an appointment (an appointment is recommended considering the waiting time).
4- Personalization process and use of temporary document:
After the application, the driver's licenses are personalized by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs within a maximum of 2 business days. During this personalization and delivery process, citizens can continue to use their vehicles with a temporary driver's license obtained from population directorates or through e-Government.
5- Receiving the new license:
The personalized driver's license is delivered to PTT. It is delivered to the address specified during the application or to one of the two persons that can be specified during the application. Delivery times are stated as 1 day for 56 provincial centers, 2 days for other provinces, and 4 days for districts.
