Allison Schardin (39), a mother of two living in Minnesota, confessed to sexually abusing two 15-year-old hockey players she met in a hotel jacuzzi. The incident occurred while Schardin was having a "staycation" with her husband and children. Initially denying the allegations, Schardin pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual offense on Friday. The incident took place on January 14. Schardin met the young athletes from Colorado in the jacuzzi and started a conversation. During this time, it was reported that her husband shouted, "If you don't come upstairs, our relationship is over." Later, Schardin shared her contact information with the youths and texted them to come to their room after arguing with her husband. Allegedly, despite telling the young men that they were the same age as her children, she pressured them into sexual acts. A third young person was present during the incident. One of the victims stated that the situation was disturbing and that he didn't even know how to say no. The next day, Schardin followed the young men to the ice rink where they were playing a game, which further unsettled the victims. After returning home, Schardin contacted them, asking one not to tell authorities about the incident and apologizing to the other. During the investigation, Schardin admitted to going to the hotel room with the three young men and having sexual contact with two of them. However, she claimed that she did not engage in further sexual acts. In exchange for her guilty plea, another charge was dropped, and prosecutors agreed to a maximum sentence of eight months in jail. Additionally, Schardin will have to register as a predatory sexual offender. This incident once again highlighted the seriousness and legal consequences of sexual abuse of minors by adults.
