As part of the process for a terrorism-free Turkey, the DEM Party delegation, which met with President Erdoğan at Beştepe, continues its contacts. Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç will receive the DEM Party delegation tomorrow at 1:30 PM.
The terrorist organization PKK is expected to begin the disarmament phase by Friday, while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the DEM Party's Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Pervin Buldan, and her accompanying delegation for the second time at the Presidential Complex regarding the Terror-Free Turkey process. Following the summit, the next destination of the DEM Party became clear.
MINISTER TUNÇ WILL MEET WITH THE DEM PARTY DELEGATION
The DEM Party delegation will meet with Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç tomorrow. Minister Tunç will receive the DEM Party delegation at 1:30 PM.
THE DEM PARTY DELEGATION MET WITH PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN
Meanwhile, the meeting between President Erdoğan and the DEM Party delegation started at 3:00 PM and lasted about an hour. The discussions focused on the efforts to achieve the "Terror-Free Turkey" goal.
The DEM Party's delegation to İmralı last met with President Erdoğan on April 10. The late Sırrı Süreyya Önder was also present at that meeting. Mithat Sancar, who was appointed to the delegation in place of Önder, participated in the meeting with Erdoğan for the first time.
The meeting was attended by DEM Party Van Deputy Pervin Buldan, DEM Party Şanlıurfa Deputy Mithat Sancar, MIT President İbrahim Kalın, and AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE DEM DELEGATION
After the meeting, the first statement from the DEM Party came: "Our members of the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan today at Beştepe. Our delegation conveyed their views and suggestions regarding the new phase of the process and what needs to be done next. It was emphasized that mutual will continues for the progress of the process."
BULDAN: A HISTORIC MEETING
DEM Party İmralı Delegation Member and Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Pervin Buldan stated to reporters before the meeting with Erdoğan, "First of all, let us remember our late President Sırrı. He had great efforts. He participated in the first meeting. This is the second meeting. It is a historic meeting from our perspective because the process is entering a new phase now. In this new phase, consultations are needed," she said.
Delegation Member and DEM Party Şanlıurfa Deputy Mithat Sancar also stated, "This meeting is really important. We just consulted with our Co-Chairs. It is known that the process has entered a new phase. Today, we will consult with the President and his delegation about the characteristics of this new phase and the requirements that follow," he expressed.
THE DELEGATION VISITED İMRALI YESTERDAY
Additionally, the DEM Party delegation visited the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı yesterday. After returning, the delegation made a statement regarding the importance Öcalan attributed to the meeting with the President today:
"He stated that our delegation members attach great importance to the meeting with the President and expressed that this meeting is of historical significance. Similarly, he emphasized that the commission to be established in the Grand National Assembly will also play a significant role in terms of peace and resolution. We saw that the hope, trust, and belief in the contribution of this process to Turkey's democratization process is extremely strong."
