12 STUDENTS LOST THEIR LIVES, 21 PEOPLE INJURED
Authorities stated that in the tragic accident, 12 university students lost their lives, and 21 others were injured. It was reported that all the deceased were students of Franca University, while the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
3-DAY OFFICIAL MOURNING DECLARED
The state governor, Tarcisio de Freitas, declared a 3-day official mourning period. According to the Ministry of Transport, more than 10,000 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in Brazil in 2024.
