Trabzonspor's Egyptian star Mohamed Salah's fellow townspeople in Necric village, where he started playing football, said they want to come to Trabzon and watch Salah at Papara Park. The village's Mayor Maher Shetteh stated that Salah is a soft power in Egypt-Turkey relations, while one of Salah's coaches, Elsadany, said, 'Hopefully one day we will come to Trabzon. For this, we are waiting for an invitation from you.'
The compatriots of Trabzonspor's Egyptian star player Mohamed Salah want to watch a match played in Trabzon at Papara Park.
Within the scope of the program organized under the leadership of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality with the contributions of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Trabzon Commodity Exchange, and the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, members of the press who went to Egypt's capital Cairo visited the village of Nagrig, where the footballer Salah was born.
Village Mayor Maher Shetteh, one of Salah's coaches Hamry Abdelhamed Elsadany, and residents met with journalists in front of the Youth Center in the village.
HE STARTED FOOTBALL ON THIS VILLAGE'S PITCH
In his statement to journalists here, Shetteh said that Salah's career began at the center's football pitch at a young age.
Stating that Salah was one of the village's children and that his success had spread throughout the world, Shetteh said, “Through Mohamed Salah, we reached the whole world.”
Wishing success to Salah, who continued his football life in Turkey after important teams such as Liverpool, Shetteh stated that more successful days awaited the star footballer and said, “Mohamed Salah has made us proud. In the past, I was involved in football here. I was one of the people who closely followed Mohamed Salah's development process. I think Mohamed Salah is a soft power in relations between Egypt and Turkey.”
THE ENTIRE EGYPTIAN PEOPLE SEE SALAH AS A COMPASS
Stating that Salah has an important personality for Muslims in Europe, Shetteh noted:
“Thanks to Mohamed Salah's move to Turkey, we got to know Trabzon more closely. Of course, we were already following the Turkish league before. We knew Fenerbahçe, Trabzonspor, Galatasaray, and other clubs, but with Mohamed Salah going there, our interest in Turkish football increased much more. We are now much more excited to watch the Turkish league, follow the matches, and watch Mohamed Salah. Because we are always supporters of Mohamed Salah.
As the people of Nagrig, and indeed as the entire Egyptian people, we see Mohamed Salah as a compass. Wherever Mohamed Salah goes, the eyes of the Egyptian people turn there too. It was like this when he played in Switzerland, when he played in Italy, and when he played in England. Now the same situation applies in Turkey. Turkey has now become one of the countries that the Egyptian people feel very close to. We are very happy to see you here, in Mohamed Salah's village.”
Coach Elsadany also recalled that Salah started football at the youth center in their village and said, “Today the whole world is talking about why Mohamed Salah left Liverpool and the English Premier League and went to the Turkish league. However, Mohamed Salah has achieved a very important thing not only with his football but also by bringing peoples closer together. Thanks to his presence in Turkey, we have become even closer to the Turkish people.”
WE ALSO WANT TO COME TO TRABZON
Emphasizing that Mohamed Salah has now become not only a footballer but also an ambassador of Egypt and the entire Arab world, Elsadany said, “We are very happy about the Egyptian-Turkish relations, which have visibly developed thanks to Mohamed Salah. We also want to visit the city of Trabzon. We have heard a lot about Trabzon. On television programs, we saw the beauty of the city and the hospitality of the people. These made us even more excited about going to Trabzon. We want to meet with you in Trabzon as well. God willing, one day we will come to Trabzon. For this, we are waiting for an invitation from you.”
Stating that they always stand behind Mohamed Salah, Elsadany said, “Egypt will stand by Mohamed Salah wherever he is. Mohamed Salah is currently in Turkey. Actually, we used to follow Turkish TV series and Turkish television productions with great interest, but now, because our son is in Turkey, we have started following even the smallest development concerning the Turkish people. Because our son lives there. We know that Mohamed Salah has created a very beautiful atmosphere in Turkey. We closely follow the interest and love the Turkish people show him.”
Expressing that they closely follow developments in Trabzon, Elsadany concluded his words as follows:
“We are also very happy that he is in Turkey. God willing, in the coming period we will see much more from Mohamed Salah in the Turkish league. Because Mohamed Salah has much more to offer to football. God willing, he will produce new championships, new successes, and beautiful performances at Trabzonspor and in the Turkish league in general. We can come to Trabzon and watch Mohamed Salah with our own eyes, and see for ourselves how the club takes care of him. Thank you very much.”
Afterwards, members of the press visited the house where Mohamed Salah was born and chatted with the residents.
