In the trial regarding allegations of sexual abuse against female intern students in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the defendants were sentenced as follows: Durmuş U. to 6 years, 16 months, and 3 days; İbrahim B. to 1 year and 15 months; Recep S. to 6 years and 3 months; Halil İ.G. to 1 year, 16 months, and 3 days in prison. Ramazan Ç. was acquitted of the charges against him.

A verdict has been announced in the case regarding allegations of sexual abuse against female students interning at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) during the 2024-2025 academic year.

In the case heard at Ankara 57th Criminal Court of First Instance, defendants Durmuş U. was sentenced to 6 years, 16 months, and 3 days; Recep S. to 6 years and 3 months; Halil İ.G. to 1 year, 16 months, and 3 days; and İbrahim B. to 1 year and 15 months in prison.

ALLEGATIONS EMERGED AFTER A STUDENT INTERN'S COMPLAINT

The investigation was initiated after a student named D., who was interning at the TBMM during the 2024-2025 academic year, applied to the Ankara Police Department Child Branch on December 4, 2025, claiming that Halil İlker Güner, an employee at the Parliament Cafeteria, subjected her to sexual harassment.

According to the prepared indictment, four student interns, who were under the age of 18 at the time of the incident, were allegedly harassed by cafeteria workers Halil İlker Güner, Durmuş Uğurlu, İbrahim Beşlioğlu, Ramazan Çetin, and Recep Seven.

The prosecutor's office had sought separate prison sentences of up to 16 years and 6 months for the defendants on charges of "sexual abuse of a child by molestation" and "sexual harassment of a child."

THEY HAD BEEN RELEASED AND THEN RE-ARRESTED

A release decision was given for the detained defendants during the second hearing of the case. However, upon the objection of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the higher court ordered the re-arrest of the defendants. In the hearing held in June, all detained defendants were released.

AN ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATION WAS ALSO CONDUCTED AT THE TBMM

The TBMM General Secretariat also launched an administrative investigation after the incident and suspended one public personnel.

Subsequently, it was announced that within the scope of the completed disciplinary investigation, a proposal was prepared for the dismissal of one cook from civil service, the termination of employment contracts for two cooks, and the imposition of disciplinary penalties for one cook and one head cook. It was reported that the prepared disciplinary report was forwarded to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
