The tension in the CHP convention continues. A new polemic has started just days before the trial of the investigation that began with allegations of irregularities in the convention.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S WORDS SPARKED CONTROVERSY
The polemic began with the words of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel directed at former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Özel claimed that the former CHP chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said to Ekrem İmamoğlu, "I recorded a video and said that no one can tarnish the purity of the convention."
DENIAL FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU'S SIDE
In response to Özel's words, a denial came from Kılıçdaroğlu's side. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer Celal Çelik stated in a statement to journalist Barış Yarkadaş, "It is neither ethically nor politically responsible for Mr. Özgür Özel to express a statement attributed to Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu, which aims to mislead the public, after his meeting with Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, and which is not in line with the truth."
"IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR US TO KNOW WHETHER THE CONVENTION IS SUSPICIOUS OR NOT"
Çelik also stated, "It is not possible for us to know definitively today whether the convention is clean or suspicious. However, one thing is clear: Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has no connection or involvement in this process."
