A donkey that went missing in Ankara and ended up on Protocol Road was found by the police and taken to a impound lot by a tow truck. The owner, who got his donkey back by paying a fine of 1,246 lira, created colorful scenes with this incident.
DONKEY TREATED LIKE A VEHICLE
The donkey, which went missing in Ankara's Altındağ district, was found by police teams upon citizens' report and taken to the impound lot by a tow truck. The owner, who learned the whereabouts of his donkey through a video he saw on social media, paid a fine of 1,246 lira and got his animal back. The moment the donkey was carried by a tow truck created colorful images.
"I WAS VERY SAD WHEN I COULDN'T FIND IT"
Orhan Figan, who stated that he does animal husbandry in Altındağ district of Ankara, said, "My shepherd called me two days ago and said the donkey went missing around 02:00 at night. I immediately went out to search for the donkey. I searched everywhere but couldn't find the donkey. I bought a drone thinking I could find it with its help, but I still couldn't find it. When I couldn't find the donkey, I informed the muhtar and my friends. When I couldn't find it, I lost hope and was very upset that I couldn't find my donkey."
"THEY LOADED IT ONTO A TOW TRUCK LIKE A VEHICLE"
Figan, stating that he learned his donkey was at the impound lot from social media, said, "My friend sent me a message at night saying 'I found your donkey'. I said 'Where did you find it?' He said it was at the impound lot, I didn't believe it. My friend said he found it on social media and sent me a link. After clicking the link, I learned that a citizen had found my donkey on Protocol Road. The citizen had called 112 after finding the donkey. When the police officers couldn't reach anyone, they called a tow truck. They loaded the donkey onto the tow truck like a normal vehicle. They tied it securely without harming the donkey. Then they unloaded the donkey at the impound lot."
"THANKS TO THE POLICE OFFICERS, THEY GAVE IT FOOD AND WATER"
Figan, stating that he went to the parking lot at night to pick up his donkey, said, "After seeing the video, I immediately called 112 and spoke with the police. The staff there said, 'Your donkey is at the impound lot, but you won't find anyone at night.' I said I found my donkey and need to take it. I went to the impound lot around 02:30 at night. Thanks to the police officers, they had given the donkey food and water. The police said, 'You can take your donkey, but we have to impose this fine on you.' They issued the receipt for my fine and handed over my donkey."
"I PAID THE FINE AND TOOK IT"
Figan, stating that the reason the donkey left the herd was to look for its foal, continued his words as follows:
"The reason this donkey is so valuable to me is that it never leaves the herd. This is a herd donkey. Since my donkey gained some weight and its foal grew enough, I added the foal to another herd. My donkey went to find its offspring. Normally, this donkey never leaves the herd. That's why it ran away; fortunately, they took it to the impound lot. I paid the fine amount of 1,246 lira and took my donkey back. Everyone, including me, was very surprised by this incident. I am very happy to have found my donkey. It was a nice memory for me."
