Murat Karayilan, one of the leaders of the terrorist organization PKK, confessed for the first time with figures the losses the organization has suffered since 1976. According to the statement, approximately 27,000 terrorists have lost their lives in clashes over the past 50 years.
Murat Karayılan, one of the so-called leaders of the PKK, shared data regarding the organization's losses from its founding years to the present day. In this first official statement made by the organization regarding the number of deaths, the number of terrorists killed since 1976 was recorded as 25,922.
DEATH TOLLS BY PERIOD
In the balance sheet shared by Karayılan, the distribution of losses by year was also detailed. It was stated that 173 terrorists were killed from the organization's founding until 1983, and 13,778 members were killed in conflicts between 1984 and 2000. It was announced that 7,949 terrorists lost their lives in the period from 2000 to 2026. On the other hand, it was reported that the number of organization members who died in the conflicts in Syria was 3,262.
WITH UNRECORDED FIGURES, THE BALANCE SHEET REACHES 27 THOUSAND
It was also admitted that the total number of deaths is higher than the announced figure of 25,922. Karayılan stated that there were organization members who could not be recorded, especially in the period between 1984 and 2000, and with the inclusion of these missing records, the total loss in the 50-year balance sheet reaches approximately 27 thousand.
