A truck driver wanting to come to the Edirne Kapıkule Border Gate was caught with 220,000 Euros in undeclared money in his cabin. It was revealed that the money was hidden inside a bag full of chocolate.

STOPPED AS A RESULT OF RISK ANALYSIS

The truck, which set off from Romania and was determined not to be carrying any cargo while trying to enter Turkey through Bulgaria, was subjected to a detailed search at the Kaptan Andreevo Border Gate in Bulgaria as part of a risk analysis. The Turkish citizen driver stated that he had no items to declare to customs officials.

During the search conducted by the customs teams, a passenger bag found in the upper bunk of the driver's cabin drew attention. In the examination of the bag filled with chocolate products, a total of 220,000 Euros in 50 and 100 Euro banknotes was seized, hidden under the chocolates.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED

An initial investigation was launched by customs inspectors under the supervision of the Haskovo Regional Prosecutor's Office Svilengrad unit regarding the incident.
