In a horrific incident in Ecuador, a gang dressed in military uniforms opened fire on innocent people watching a cockfight, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals.

During the attack that occurred on Thursday, the crazed criminals, wearing fake military outfits, spread terror among the unsuspecting local crowd. In chilling footage, at least five armed men can be seen entering the arena in fake military uniforms.

At first, everything seemed normal. Dozens of people sitting in colorful stands were watching the cockfights.

However, the malicious criminals carefully observed the surroundings by hiding in the upper levels of the arena before carrying out this bloody act.

Then they opened fire on the peaceful event with automatic weapons and rushed inside. Horrified spectators, realizing what was happening, panicked and tried to protect themselves by ducking to the ground.

As many people tried to escape in great panic, some fell to the ground while others desperately tried to get away.

Police officials reported that 12 people were killed in the attack, and many others were injured. However, no specific information was provided regarding the number of injured.

According to local sources, the gang fled the scene with approximately $20,000 in cash after this horrific attack. According to CBS News, it is a common tactic for criminal organizations to disguise themselves as soldiers before an attack. Police spokesperson Colonel Renan Miller Rivera stated, "Unfortunately, we lost 12 of our citizens as a result of an attack carried out by an armed criminal organization."

Following this tragic attack, police teams apprehended four suspects.

The police indicated that one of the captured suspects was a "very important target."

Local authorities announced that the four detained suspects were members of an organized crime group called "Los R7."

The police claim to have seized the fake military uniforms worn by this ruthless group and the getaway vehicles they left behind.

One of the getaway vehicles was found overturned, while the other had been set on fire. New footage released by the police shows the moments of a raid in a wooded area where weapons and money belonging to the gang were found.

The footage displays numerous weapons, cash, and other criminal evidence hidden under tree branches and inside bags.

The police also released photos of the four detained suspects, but their faces were obscured.

As a result of the operation, a total of eight rifles, four handguns, three shotguns, eight magazines, 11 mobile phones, ballistic helmets, and tactical gloves were seized.

Ecuador is a country fighting against gang violence and is home to about 20 different criminal organizations involved in crimes such as kidnapping, drug trafficking, and robbery.

This South American country, with a population of approximately 18 million, is situated between Peru and Colombia, the world's two largest cocaine producers, and has been struggling with violence and the spread of international drug cartels for years.
