In a joint operation between MIT and Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, Özgür Altun, one of the so-called leaders of ISIS wanted in the orange category, was captured at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The terrorist, brought to Turkey, reportedly confessed in his statement that he had been encouraging people worldwide to carry out actions and that he held a senior position as the media officer for ISIS in Turkey.
As a result of the intelligence work carried out by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), it has been determined that the passage of ISIS members from Europe and Central Asia to the Afghanistan-Pakistan area is organized by a Turkish national, who is also identified as the "Highest Level Turkish ISIS Leader" operating in the media and logistics fields of ISIS. This ISIS leader has been found to have issued instructions for actions to be carried out in concert venues where the civilian population living in Turkey and Europe is gathered.
NAME OF THE PERSON GIVING THE INSTRUCTION IDENTIFIED
As a result of the intelligence and risk analyses conducted by MIT, it has been determined that the individual conducting these activities on behalf of ISIS is Özgür ALTUN, codenamed Abu Yasir AL TURKİ, who is a high-level media officer within the so-called ISIS Khorasan Province (ISKP), managing the transfer of organizational elements from Turkey to the AF-PAK area, conducting publications in Turkish in ISIS media outlets, and giving instructions for actions to ISIS elements. He is listed in the "Orange" category of the wanted terrorists list.
POINT OPERATION
MIT learned that the high-level ISIS member terrorist of Turkish origin, Abu Yasir, who had illegally crossed from Turkey to Afghanistan, was active in Afghanistan and planned to move to Pakistan. The ISI, which was informed about the matter, assured MIT that all necessary support would be provided, emphasizing that Pakistan is also an enemy of Turkey. Subsequently, in a coordinated point operation carried out with MIT, ISI captured Abu Yasir at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and deported him to Turkey.
HIS STATEMENT EMERGED
In his statement, Özgür Altun mentioned that he managed the transfer of the organization from Turkey to the Afghanistan-Pakistan area, directed ISIS media outlets, conducted publications in English and Turkish, encouraged people worldwide to carry out actions, and conveyed information regarding ISKP's recruitment, logistics, and financial activities, along with his role as a high-level Turkish media officer within ISIS.
