"Dad, I still can't believe it. I can't accept it, or I don't want to accept it. It's so hard to imagine that I will never see you again, that we will never talk again.
I knew you were in pain, but you left us too soon. You always told me you wanted me to play in the 2026 World Cup. I had promised you we would reach the final.
I was desperate to come to you after every match. I wanted to give you that trophy, but it didn't happen. My legs didn't have the strength. I tried to fight against my age and my body, but it didn't work.
When I returned, you thought we had lost the final on penalties. You couldn't enjoy it much because of your illness, but you were right, Dad: I'm glad I listened to you and came to this tournament.
I don't know what to do without you. I've played football all my life, and now I have doubts about whether to continue. You've been with me since the beginning of my career, why couldn't you hold on a little longer, why? I could have ended my career with you.
