The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into the video clip and lyrics of the song titled "Ha Leylim" by Fatih Karaca, known as Mabel Matiz, released on digital platforms. In the statement, it was noted that the clip is being evaluated within the scope of the crime of "obscenity" under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the song and music video titled "Ha Leylim" by singer Fatih Karaca, known publicly as "Mabel Matiz," published on digital platforms.
In a written statement by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the song lyrics and the visual content of the video were evaluated within the scope of the "obscenity" crime regulated in Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code (TPC). It was reported that an investigation was initiated ex officio to uncover the material truth.
WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office included the following expressions:
"Considering that the visuals along with the lyrics of the music video for the song titled 'Ha Leylim,' performed by the singer known to the public as Mabel Matiz and published on digital platforms, fall within the scope of the crime of obscenity regulated in Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237, an investigation has been initiated ex officio by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to uncover the material truth and carry out the necessary investigative procedures."
PREVIOUSLY ACQUITTED
A case had previously been filed against Mabel Matiz on the claim that his song titled "Perperişan" contained obscene expressions in its lyrics and that the work was published on digital platforms without an age restriction.
Following the investigation and trial process, the court ruled for the acquittal of Mabel Matiz on the grounds that the legal elements of the crime were not formed.
