Famous singer Mustafa Sandal's former brother-in-law Hüsnü Kerem Şen, who was tried on various charges including premeditated murder and was arrested after being caught via a red notice, was released with the court's interim decision. While it was decided to impose judicial control measures on Şen, including an electronic bracelet, a ban on leaving his residence, and a travel ban abroad, new footage of the incident also emerged.

Hüsnü Kerem Şen, known as Mustafa Sandal's former brother-in-law, was released with the court's interim decision in the case he was being tried.

BEING TRIED FOR 4 SEPARATE CRIMES

In the case heard at the İzmir 21st Heavy Penal Court, the detention status of Hüsnü Kerem Şen, who was being tried for charges of intentional killing, simple assault, unlicensed possession or carrying of firearms and ammunition, and property damage, was reassessed.

The court ruled for his release, considering his long-term detention, the current state of evidence in the file, and the investigation processes. The decision stipulated that Şen be released immediately if he was not detained or convicted for another crime.

ELECTRONIC MONITORING AND TRAVEL BAN

The court decided to impose a travel ban abroad on Hüsnü Kerem Şen and to enforce a judicial control measure of home confinement with an electronic monitoring device. It was also warned that he could be re-arrested if he failed to comply with the judicial control provisions.

SETTLED IN ISTANBUL AFTER RELEASE

According to the petition submitted to the court by his lawyer, Hüsnü Kerem Şen began living in a residence in Kağıthane, Istanbul, after his release.

CAME TO THE AGENDA WITH THE MURDER INVESTIGATION IN ÇEŞME

Hüsnü Kerem Şen's name first came to the fore after an armed attack in an entertainment venue in the Çeşme district of İzmir in 2023, which resulted in the death of one person. An argument between a group allegedly not allowed into the venue and security personnel turned into an armed clash, resulting in the death of security guard Samet Öztaşkın and numerous injuries. After the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Şen, who was determined to have gone abroad, and later a red notice was issued for him.

After being brought back to Turkey, Hüsnü Kerem Şen was tried at the İzmir 21st Heavy Penal Court on charges of 'intentional killing', 'simple assault', 'unlicensed possession of weapons', and 'property damage'. The court decided on his release due to prolonged detention and the possibility of a change in the nature of the crime. Judicial control measures of a travel ban abroad and home confinement with an electronic monitoring device were imposed on Şen.

The second case in which Şen was being tried was an investigation into allegations of threats, robbery, and detention against Abdullah Taşkın and his family. According to the allegations, the Taşkın couple was pressured over millions of liras; they were threatened, detained, and assaulted. It was stated that camera footage of the assault moments in the residence was included in the case file.

The prosecutor's office filed a case against Şen on charges of 'qualified robbery', 'membership in a criminal organization', and 'deprivation of personal liberty'. After being brought to Turkey and arrested, Şen appeared before the judge at the İstanbul 39th Heavy Penal Court. The court decided on release, considering the duration of detention and the principle of proportionality.
