THE BODIES OF HIS BROTHER AND NEPHEW WERE FOUND
Pichugin was rescued alive approximately a thousand kilometers from the point where he set out to sea, while the lifeless bodies of his brother and nephew, who had gone out to sea with him, were found on the boat. While Pichugin was taken to the port of Magadan by a rescue ship, he was later hospitalized. It was reported that 46-year-old Sergei Pichugin's health condition is good, and he has begun receiving both medical and psychological support. Russian health officials stated that Pichugin may have survived due to his weight, noting that he weighed 100 kilograms when he set out to sea and had significantly lost weight.
