Police teams conducted a drone-assisted operation in Izmir's Konak district and captured two fugitives with totaling over 20 years of finalized prison sentences. Drugs, unlicensed weapons, and a large amount of money were seized during the operation.
In an operation in Konak that rivaled movie scenes, suspects identified as prison escapees were caught red-handed. During drone-supported raids, drugs, precision scales, a pump-action shotgun, and cash were found in the searches.
DRONE-SUPPORTED OPERATION CONDUCTED
Teams from the Konak District Police Department Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau conducted an operation on June 16 at four separate addresses identified in the 2nd Kadriye and Çimentepe neighborhoods. Teams dispatched to the area to apprehend suspects V.K. (26) and Ç.K. (24), who had arrest warrants, took extensive security measures around the addresses.
The moments during the operation, carried out with drone support from the sky, were recorded second by second. In detailed searches at the addresses where the suspects were located, 241.15 grams of cannabis, 1 unlicensed pump-action shotgun, 2 precision scales, and 16,400 TL believed to be proceeds of crime were seized.
FUGITIVES' EXTENSIVE CRIMINAL RECORDS REVEALED
In the General Information Collection (GBT) queries of the suspects taken into custody during the operation, notable criminal records emerged.
It was determined that suspect V.K. was wanted for a total of 17 years, 11 months, and 18 days of finalized prison sentences for crimes including deprivation of liberty through force, threat, or deception, threat with a weapon, and escape of a convict or detainee.
The other suspect, Ç.K., was found to be wanted for a total of 2 years and 1 month of finalized prison sentences for theft and drug trafficking crimes, and was also identified as a prison escapee.
ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON
After the completion of their procedures at the police station, V.K. and Ç.K. were referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested by the court and sent to prison.
