Hatice K., 43, who was shot with a hunting rifle by her husband wanting a divorce in Fethiye district of Muğla, recounted her fight for life from her hospital room. After the attack, the woman lost one leg, and doctors are making intense efforts to save her other leg. The victim of violence, with the words 'I was shot just because I wanted a divorce,' revealed the horror she experienced.

Hatice K. (43), living in the Fethiye district of Muğla, was seriously injured in an armed attack by her husband Veli K. (46), from whom she was in the process of divorcing, on January 24, and was referred to Muğla Training and Research Hospital. After a 3-week intensive care process, Hatice K., whose left leg was amputated and whose treatment continues to save her right leg, described the horrific moments she experienced and her struggle for life from her hospital room.

"I WAS SHOT JUST BECAUSE I WANTED A DIVORCE"

Hatice K., stating that her life was turned upside down due to the attack she suffered, recounted the day of the incident and her treatment process with these words:

"On January 24, I was brutally shot in the legs by my husband with a shotgun, just because I wanted a divorce from him. After initial intervention in Fethiye, I was brought to Muğla Training and Research Hospital. I stayed in intensive care for 3 weeks. During intensive care, doctors amputated my left leg because they could not save it. For my right leg, they have been applying treatment since then, performing skin grafts."

"THE SHOTGUN PELLETS KILLED THE TISSUES"

Stating that doctors are making intense efforts to save her right leg but the situation remains critical, Hatice K. said, "After intensive care, I came to the Plastic Surgery ward. Due to open wounds, the shotgun pellets spread throughout my leg. There are comminuted fractures; the nerves, tissues, all are dead. The wound couldn't be closed twice, the tissue doesn't hold. Now a third surgery is planned. Thank God for our doctors, they are doing their best to save my leg. I constantly pray. I continue my life hopelessly, confined to bed here."

"HE SAID, I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU, I'LL KILL YOU"

The woman, stating that her husband had been threatening her in a planned manner for a long time, said, "He was constantly threatening to kill me, not to let me live. 'You can't stay in this city, you can't live in Fethiye. I can't live without you, I'll kill you. You will make peace with me,' he said, making threats to me, my surroundings, my family, and friends. Later, he wanted to reconcile, but I didn't accept. When I didn't want to reconcile, one day he told his partner, 'I'm going to shoot her, I won't let her live.' He took the shotgun and brutally shot me in the legs where I was."

Hatice K., who lost one leg and is waiting for her treatment to continue while bedridden for her other leg, said, "I lost one leg. I am waiting for all kinds of financial and moral support that can help me. Also, I hope this situation never happens to any woman; nobody deserves this. Whether woman or man, please everyone hear my voice and do what they can."

The judicial process for Veli K., who was taken into custody by the police after the incident and arrested by the court, continues.
