Ten gold bars found in an empty lot in the town of Bannewitz, located in the Saxony state of Germany, have created great excitement in the area. Mayor Heiko Wersig announced that if the owner of the gold does not come forward, the proceeds will be distributed to the public.
If the owner of the 10 gold bars found in the town of Bannewitz, Germany, does not come forward by April 17, the proceeds will be distributed to the public.
THE GOLD WAS FOUND BY CHANCE
About six months ago, an employee of the waterworks department found 10 gold bars while mowing grass on a vacant lot owned by the municipality. After the incident, officials reported the situation to Mayor Wersig, and an investigation was launched regarding the source of the gold.
OWNER SOUGHT
While efforts are ongoing to find the owner of the gold, which is said to be worth approximately 37,000 euros, there is great curiosity in the town. In Bannewitz, with a population of 11,000, all eyes are on April 17.
“SOMEONE MAY HAVE DROPPED IT WHILE FLEEING”
Mayor Wersig stated that they are considering different possibilities regarding how the gold ended up there, saying, “A thief may have dropped the gold while fleeing, or it may have been thrown out of a vehicle.” A person from Hamburg also claimed that he dropped the gold while transporting it with a drone, but this claim could not be verified.
IF THE OWNER DOES NOT COME FORWARD, IT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE PUBLIC
Wersig announced that if the real owner does not come forward by April 17, the proceeds will be transferred to the town's residents. He stated that the income is planned to be used particularly for sports clubs, music events, and projects aimed at the elderly.
THANKS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE PERSON WHO FOUND THE GOLD
It was stated that the municipal employee who found the gold does not claim rights over it since the discovery was made during working hours and on public land, but he will be thanked.
