The murder of Galip Öztürker, committed in the Germencik district of Aydın in 2002 and remaining unsolved, was solved 24 years later within the scope of the reopened investigation. 5 suspects were arrested.

The murder of Galip Öztürker (53), which remained unsolved in the Germencik district of Aydın, was solved after 24 years. While 5 people were detained, the suspects were arrested after their procedures. The incident occurred on February 3, 2002, in the Çamköy neighborhood of Germencik district. 53-year-old Galip Öztürker was found stabbed to death by a stream. Due to lack of sufficient evidence, the murder remained unsolved. Following the instruction of Justice Minister Akın Gürlek to solve unsolved cases, the Germencik Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reopened the unsolved files in the district.

ALL SUSPECTS ARRESTED

In a study conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with the gendarmerie, based on new witness statements and HTS records, it was determined that one of the suspects was M.D. (47), who was in prison for another crime. M.D. confessed to the murder in his statement taken yesterday via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS). Based on M.D.'s statement, the gendarmerie apprehended 4 more suspects yesterday. After their procedures at the gendarmerie, M.D. and the other 4 suspects were referred to the courthouse on charges of 'Intentional killing.' All suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before.
