A Netflix reality star was caught trying to smuggle £6.5 million worth of drugs into England after a friend offered her a trip to Thailand worth 760,000 lira, with all expenses paid. After being caught trying to smuggle £6.5 million worth of drugs into England, the Netflix reality star managed to escape from prison. 27-year-old Olga Bednarska was stopped by customs officials at Manchester Airport while returning from Thailand with two large suitcases containing 40 kg of cannabis. She was arrested in October and had been in custody since then. According to The Sun, the Too Hot to Handle star claimed that the bags were given to her by a friend named 'Tex'. The influencer, who appeared in the third season of Netflix's hit show, said this person paid for her flight tickets and asked her to bring back designer clothes and watches from Phuket. In court, it was revealed that Bednarska, originally from Poland and living in Manchester, was 'living beyond her means' and had accumulated £16,000 in debt. To pay off this debt, Bednarska turned to crime, accepting the offer of a fully paid trip to Thailand in exchange for smuggling designer goods out of the country for £18,000. Bednarska pleaded guilty to smuggling through fraud in the importation of a Class B drug and cried in court when she was released from prison. Instead, Judge John Potter gave her a 20-month sentence suspended for two years. In court, it was revealed that Bednarska met with a 'partner' of her friend Tex on October 10 and then checked into a free hotel room. The two suitcases used to bring back the goods were purchased with 'spending money' given to her. In addition to clothes and watches, she was asked to provide 'cover-up materials' and was not expected to play any further role in the plan. However, Bednarska was stopped by Border Force officers on October 20 and confirmed that she had packed the suitcases herself. She told officials that the bags were given to her at the airport and that she could not open the suitcase because she did not know the code. When the suitcases were eventually opened, vacuum-sealed bags of cannabis were found hidden under her clothes. The total weight was 39.4 kg, with an estimated value of around £157,600. Judge Potter said: "You decided to trust someone you didn't know. Under the guidance of others, you were likely acting for greater profit. I am sure you can imagine the harm that drugs of wholesale value cause to our communities when sold for profit. By accepting what you did, you contributed directly to this." In addition to her suspended prison sentence, Bednarska was also given a requirement to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities.
