In Ankara, a man who killed his divorced wife with a pistol committed suicide with the same weapon after the murder. Eyewitnesses who spoke about the incident claimed that a note was found in the suspect's pocket stating that he would kill his two daughters and his wife.
In Ankara, a person who ended the life of his ex-wife by shooting her with a gun also ended his own life with the same pistol. According to witness statements, it was alleged that a letter was found on the suspect stating that he would kill both his two daughters and his wife.
FIRST HE KILLED HIS EX-WIFE, THEN HIMSELF
The incident occurred around 13:00 at a shopping center on Başkent Boulevard in the İlkyerleşim Neighborhood of Yenimahalle district. According to allegations, Doğan Yavuz (56), who had become obsessed with his ex-wife Aynur Ekici (49), whom he divorced 5 years ago, and constantly harassed her to reconcile, went to the tailoring shop owned by Ekici. After firing a gun at his ex-wife, with whom he had argued, Yavuz committed suicide with the same weapon. Upon notification by those around, medical and police teams were dispatched to the area. The bodies of Yavuz and Ekici, who were determined to have died at the scene, were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy.
HE HAD THE SHOP PUT IN HIS DAUGHTER'S NAME AND TRIED TO LOSE HIS TRACE
It was learned that Ekici had the shop she owned registered in her daughter's name because she was constantly harassed by her ex-husband Yavuz and did not want her whereabouts to be found. On the other hand, eyewitnesses speaking about the incident claimed that a note was found in the suspect's pocket saying he would kill his two daughters and his wife.
"SHE HAD BEEN FLEEING FROM HER EX-HUSBAND FOR A LONG TIME"
Hasan Ateşoğlu, a local tradesman who spoke about the incident, said, "We heard a sound. All the neighbors headed toward where the sound came from. The husband of the woman who had been fleeing from her ex-husband for a long time and worked as a tailor here came. After the man fired at the woman, he also shot himself and committed suicide. They divorced in 2021. The man was following the woman. So that the woman's trace would not be apparent, she had her shop registered in her daughter's name. She did not have it put in her own name. She had already been fleeing from her ex-husband for quite a while. We do not know the attacker. The woman started living here thinking she had fled and lost her trace. The attacker came from Istanbul. I heard the gunshot, but it was not that loud a sound. We ran to the scene. Both of them were lying on the ground. Both were covered in blood. We immediately called the teams. I had not previously witnessed any quarrel between the parties. A note came out of the suspect's pocket, saying, 'I will catch and kill all three of you.' His daughter was also very close. God protected her," he said.
