In a statement from the Nome Volunteer Fire Department, it was said, "Currently, we are conducting ground searches from Nome and White Mountain. Due to weather conditions and visibility, searches from the air are limited. The National Guard, Coast Guard, and Police Teams have joined the search efforts." Local authorities urged the public to refrain from forming their own search groups due to concerns that the plane may be missing and the extreme weather conditions.
