An interesting incident occurred on United Airlines' Austin-Los Angeles flight. A passenger was filmed kicking the airplane seat and was subdued by other passengers using plastic handcuffs. In the footage recorded on November 16, a man wearing a dark sweater, gray sweatpants, and white Nike shoes is seen violently kicking the middle seat while holding onto the seats in the aisle and emergency exit row. In the approximately 25-second video, the man delivers powerful kicks strong enough to push the seat into the empty row behind. Gino Galofaro, who filmed the incident and works as an addiction counselor in San Diego, said, "I woke up to the sound of kicks. The flight attendant passed by several times, but no one did anything. Two other passengers and I restrained him with plastic handcuffs and secured him to the seat. We had 40 minutes left to LAX." Galofaro stated that he wanted to reach out to the man's family to offer help. United Airlines announced that the passenger was banned from all flights following the incident involving 76 passengers and 5 crew members on board. A company spokesperson said, "We thank our crew for bringing the situation under control and ensuring everyone's safety." This incident reminded many of a recent occurrence on an American Airlines flight where a first-class passenger was warned by other passengers for assaulting a female passenger next to him.
