In the Konak district of Izmir, a person shot and killed a taxi driver he had argued with over the fare, then got behind the wheel and fled. After a while, the passenger abandoned the taxi on the street and continued to escape on foot, but was quickly apprehended. It was learned that the driver was married and a father of one child.

A murder occurred yesterday around 11:00 PM in the Basmane Gates area of the Konak district in İzmir, resembling a scene from a movie. According to the information obtained, a suspect named D.M. got into a commercial taxi driven by Deniz Örer (52) as a passenger. Allegedly, a dispute arose between the driver and the passenger regarding the fare during the journey.

As the argument escalated, D.M. fired at taxi driver Örer with the gun he had with him. Örer, who was shot in various parts of his body, was seriously injured. After the incident, the suspect D.M. took control of Örer's commercial taxi and drove away from the scene. After fleeing in the vehicle for a while, the suspect abandoned the taxi on a street and continued his escape on foot.

Upon notification, a large number of police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. A check by the medical teams revealed that the taxi driver had died at the scene. It was learned that Örer was married and a father of one child, and his lifeless body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.

ARRESTED IN A SHORT TIME

Police teams initiated a search to capture the fleeing individual. As a result of the investigations, the identity and escape route of the suspect D.M. were determined, and he was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. The gun used in the incident was also seized from the suspect. The investigation launched regarding the incident is ongoing.
