The Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government made a statement regarding the remarks directed at MHP leader Bahçeli following Mesud Barzani's visit to Şırnak. In the statement, which indicated a step back, it was noted, "After this historic visit, unwanted and excessive comments and evaluations have emerged, leading to concerns. The important point is this exceptional period achieved in the relations between the Republic of Turkey and the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government."

After strong reactions from Ankara regarding the statements made by Mesud Barzani's office towards MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, the Erbil administration stated that "comments and evaluations exceeding the purpose" were made following Barzani's visit to Şırnak.

In a written statement, it was emphasized that Barzani's participation in the Melaye Ciziri Symposium and the warm interest shown by both official authorities and the local people during his contacts in the region were commendable.

"COMMENTS EXCEEDING THE PURPOSE HAVE COME TO THE AGENDA"

The statement highlighted that the visit aimed to support the peace process, and included the following remarks: "Unfortunately, after this historic visit, different, unwanted, and comments exceeding the purpose have come to the agenda, causing concerns. The important point is this exceptional period achieved in the relations between the Republic of Turkey and the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government."

"A CORRECT STEP TAKEN FOR THE SOLUTION OF THE ISSUE"

The Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government described the peace process in Turkey as "a correct step taken for the solution of an important and sensitive issue." The statement said, "The peace process is also a correct step taken for the solution of an important and sensitive issue; we appreciate the efforts of the Turkish government, the ruling parties, and everyone who plays an effective role in developing peace and stability in Turkey and the region. We see it necessary for all of us to work together to alleviate concerns; to strengthen relations, to ensure peace, and to focus on protecting our common interests and regional stability."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Barzani arrived at the symposium held in the Cizre district of Şırnak with bodyguards carrying long-barreled weapons. The images in question led to criticism, and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli reacted with the following words: "Barzani currently has no official state duty. He has only entered our country as a guest. Nevertheless, the unfounded praises and exaggerated compliments presented before the Symposium, which have turned into a show, along with the presence of foreign uniformed soldiers carrying long-barreled weapons in our homeland, is simply a disgrace. The sovereignty rights and laws of the Republic of Turkey have been violated. This is a deliberate attack on the reputation of the Republic of Turkey."

VERY STRONG EXPRESSIONS FOR BAHÇELİ

Following this, a statement was made from Barzani's Office. The statement said, "We thought that Allah had guided Devlet Bahçeli, that he had abandoned racism and chauvinism. However, it seems that he is still the old Bozkurt, only now disguised in sheep's clothing. Unfortunately, Devlet Bahçeli has again spoken with a chauvinistic mindset regarding President Barzani's visit to Cizre and his participation in the Melayê Cizîrî Symposium; he has made statements that are far from any customs and traditions, serving no one. While Bahçeli was making these remarks, all security details and measures taken for President Barzani's visit were implemented according to the protocol agreement between the relevant institutions of the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. Moreover, whenever high-level Turkish officials visit the Kurdistan Region, Turkey's special forces also accompany them, and no issues arise."

In a statement from the Ministry of Interior regarding the investigation, it was stated, "Following the public disclosure of the 'security images' related to a symposium held in Cizre, an examination was initiated regarding the images, and subsequently, 2 inspectors were assigned to the matter. It is respectfully announced to the public."
