After the headscarf debate in Azerbaijan, Oktay Saral, who announced his resignation from the post of Chief Advisor to the President, made notable changes to his social media account.
HE REMOVED THE CHIEF ADVISOR TITLE FROM HIS PROFILE
It was seen that Oktay Saral removed the phrase "Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Turkey" that had previously appeared in the biography section of his X account. Saral also replaced the Presidential Palace photo he used as his profile background with an image of the Turkish flag.
HE HAD RESIGNED AFTER THE HEADSCARF DEBATE IN AZERBAIJAN
Saral's resignation came after his criticism of the dress code regulation implemented in schools in Azerbaijan. In his post on October 12, Saral said, "Denying headscarved students in Azerbaijan their right to education is unacceptable. The right to education cannot be sacrificed to any ideological imposition."
After this statement, claims emerged that Saral had been dismissed, and Saral later announced on his social media account that he had resigned.
HE HAD GIVEN THE MESSAGE "POSITIONS ARE TEMPORARY"
In his resignation statement, Saral included the words, "I have submitted my resignation from my post as Chief Advisor to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which I have carried out with great honor, pride, and responsibility since 2016."
Emphasizing that positions are temporary, Saral stated that he would continue to walk alongside President Erdoğan and said, "This decision of mine does not mean taking a step back from the values I believe in or from my will to serve our nation."
