Upon the invitation of Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife Emine Erdogan, who traveled to Bishkek to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit on August 31-September 1, 2026, were presented with a toy featuring a snow leopard, which is a national symbol of Kyrgyzstan. The toys, presented by children wearing local attire, created colorful scenes as they were given to the Erdogan couple. The snow leopard is regarded in the country as a symbol of strength, courage, independence, and nobility.

The snow leopard, considered one of Kyrgyzstan's national symbols, is seen in the country as a symbol of strength, courage, independence, and nobility. Holding an important place in historical and cultural heritage, the snow leopard also finds its place in the epic narratives of the Kyrgyz people.
NOBLE GUARDIAN OF THE MOUNTAINS
Snow leopards typically live in rugged, snowy mountains at altitudes of 3,000 to 4,000 meters. Among their primary habitats in Kyrgyzstan are the high regions of the Tian Shan mountains.
Thanks to conservation efforts, it is noted that the snow leopard population in Kyrgyzstan has exceeded 550 individuals.
