F.Ç., a 48-year-old art teacher in Balıkesir’s Edremit district, who was found to have made social media posts within the scope of “Insulting the State’s Symbols of Sovereignty” and “Crimes Against Atatürk,” was arrested by the court to which she was brought.
A middle school teacher, for whom legal proceedings were initiated due to a post made through his social media account in the Edremit district of Balıkesir, was arrested by the court to which he was brought.
During virtual patrol activities carried out by teams of the Balıkesir Provincial Police Department Edremit Security Bureau Branch on social media platforms, a publicly visible post made from an Instagram account with the username "BARYEK" was scrutinized. It was concluded that the post in question constituted the offenses of "Insulting the Symbols of State Sovereignty" and "Violating the Law on Crimes Committed Against Atatürk," and the situation was reported to the duty public prosecutor.
IT EMERGED THAT HE WAS AN ART TEACHER
Within the scope of the investigation initiated upon the prosecutor's instruction, it was determined that the account belonged to F.Ç. (48), an art teacher working at 75. Yıl Middle School affiliated with the Edremit District Directorate of National Education.
SENT TO PRISON
During a search at the suspect's residence, 1 mobile phone and 1 laptop computer were seized for examination. F.Ç., who was referred to the courthouse after questioning at the police station and prosecutor's office, was arrested by the court to which he was brought and sent to prison.
