An investigation has been initiated against a teacher at Ergenekon Middle School in Pendik, Istanbul, for using violence against a student he called to the board. Moments when the teacher threatened the student by saying "I will kill you" were captured on a mobile phone camera. It was also reported that the teacher has been transferred from Maltepe to Pendik.
The teacher, who applied verbal and physical violence to a student he raised to the board in his class at Ergenekon Middle School, threatened the student and hurled insults. Those moments were recorded second by second by another student in the classroom using a mobile phone camera.
TEACHER EXILED TO PENDIK
In the footage, the teacher can be heard shouting at the student, "You are filthy, I will kill you." After the incident, the families of the students went to the school to submit their complaints. It was learned that the teacher had previously worked in Maltepe and was exiled to Pendik due to disciplinary issues.
STUDENTS SHARED THEIR EXPERIENCES
The sister of the student in the classroom, Gül Ak, said, "This morning, my brother's friend was subjected to violence by the teacher. Actually, this has happened to my brother and his friends before, but they couldn't tell us out of fear. In today's incident, my brother couldn't stand it and recorded the footage and came home to show us. We immediately went to the school and submitted our complaint." The family of the girl who was assaulted initially said, 'Don't get involved, we will handle it,' but I didn't stay silent," she said.
B.S., who claims that the same teacher also assaulted her, stated, "I was assaulted by our art teacher, D.A. He came up to me out of nowhere and punched me on the shoulder. He constantly blames me. He even said to me, 'You are harassing me, you could be a nightclub security.' I didn't want to say these things, but I can't stand it anymore. He pushed me while I was going down the stairs, I almost fell. He suddenly shouts and hits without any reason. He treats my other friends the same way. He snaps at us every day when he is angry. I want action to be taken," she expressed.
Student Y.L. stated, "I didn't come to school very often. One day when I came, my bag was on the desk. The teacher came and threw the bag at me. He grabbed my jacket and said, 'Why are you like this?' He used unacceptable words. This is not the first time; he has done it before. He does it not only to those who talk but also to those who don't," she expressed.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED
Following the sharing of the footage on social media, an administrative investigation was initiated against the teacher. An inspector was assigned to investigate the incident.
