The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, spoke about the forest fires that have been affecting many areas in Turkey. Stating that 342 forest fires have occurred since Friday, Minister Yumaklı said, "There are 6 ongoing fires in Manisa, İzmir, Hatay, and Antakya. We are in a much better situation today than we were yesterday in the fires in İzmir's Seferihisar and Menderes."
Efforts to combat the forest fires that have broken out across Turkey are ongoing. The strong winds are occasionally making it difficult for the teams, but efforts are being made without interruption to bring the flames under control. The fight against the flames continues across the country. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı also made a statement regarding the fires.
"6 FIRES CONTINUE"
Stating that "342 fires broke out in 5 days," Minister Yumaklı said, "6 fires are still ongoing in Manisa, İzmir, Hatay, and Antakya. We are in a much better situation today than yesterday in the fires in İzmir's Seferihisar and Menderes. We have significantly reduced the impact with serious interventions throughout the night in both İzmir and Manisa. We are experiencing difficult moments at times due to the strong winds in Hatay Antakya. The fire in Adana has been brought under control," he said.
"PLEASE DO NOT LIGHT FIRES OUTSIDE"
Warning citizens not to light fires, Minister Yumaklı stated, "Our pilots are taking risks to intervene. Efforts are being made continuously from the ground to extinguish the fires. The unpredictable winds are also affecting the operations. Please do not light fires outside. With a very simple fire, the resources of our country are burning. There should be social sensitivity regarding the fires. I urge all our citizens, please do not light fires outside. Do not throw your cigarette on the roadside or into the grass," he said.
