A training aircraft belonging to a private flight school in Çatalca, Istanbul, crashed after its tail scraped the runway following a hard landing during a training flight. In the accident, the student pilot was slightly injured.
In the Catalca district of Istanbul, Baran B., a final-year pilotage student who was performing a training flight with a training aircraft belonging to a private flight school, made a hard landing at Hazerfen Airport.
AS THE TAIL SCRAPED THE RUNWAY, THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED A CRASH: 1 INJURED
The aircraft, which suffered a crash as its tail scraped against the runway, was damaged. Upon notification from those who witnessed the accident, health, gendarmerie, and crime scene investigation teams were dispatched to the scene. Baran B., who was slightly injured, was taken to the hospital as a precaution after receiving initial medical attention from health teams.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNORSHIP
In a statement made by the Istanbul Governorship on the matter, it was stated, "On Thursday, 06.08.2026, at approximately 17:30, a training aircraft belonging to a private flight school operating in the Bahsayiş Neighborhood of the Catalca District suffered a crash due to its tail scraping the ground. The pilot of the aircraft, final-year pilotage student B.B., was slightly injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital by health teams who arrived at the scene and taken under treatment. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident."
