In Erzurum, known for its continental climate and lack of sea, drivers encountered an unusual sight this time. The Erzurum-Tortum highway was blocked after a truck carrying a giant yacht in its trailer broke down while traveling from Van to Istanbul. All the attention of the drivers stuck in traffic was directed towards the yacht on the truck.

On the Erzurum-Tortum highway, an unusual sight for the highways brought traffic to a standstill. A truck carrying a yacht, which was being transported from Van to Istanbul, got stuck on the road, causing long queues and astonished looks.

The truck, which had a yacht destined for Istanbul on its trailer, stopped on an alternative road to avoid a bridge obstacle when its engine overheated, leading to the Erzurum-Artvin highway being closed to traffic in both directions. The truck, stranded in the middle of the road with the massive yacht, was rescued after hours of work.

HE ENTERED THIS ROAD TO AVOID THE BRIDGE, BUT...

The incident occurred around 4:30 PM in front of the Akdağ Industrial Site on the Erzurum-Artvin highway. The truck with license plate 34 SM 4208, driven by Serkan Şengül, attempted to proceed on a secondary road after being unable to pass under the bridge on the bypass due to the height of the load.

STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH A HUGE LOAD

The truck, which advanced to the front of the Akdağ Industrial Site, became immobilized due to the engine overheating. With the complete closure of the dual carriageway, traffic came to a standstill, and drivers had to wait on the road for a long time.

GENDARMERIE AND HIGHWAY AUTHORITIES SPRING INTO ACTION

Upon notification, gendarmerie, traffic police, and highway teams were dispatched to the area. Due to the closure of traffic in both directions, a queue of vehicles stretching for kilometers formed.

RESCUE OPERATION WITH HEAVY MACHINERY

The driver, unable to start the truck, sought help from Ahmet Polat, a heavy machinery operator at the industrial site. A rope was attached to the truck to begin the process of pulling it out with the heavy machinery.

During the rescue efforts, citizens gathered around, experiencing the astonishment of seeing a giant yacht on Erzurum roads, while capturing the events on their mobile phones.

THE ROAD WAS OPENED TO TRAFFIC AFTER 1.5 HOURS

After approximately 1.5 hours of work, the truck was pulled off the road with the help of heavy machinery. First, cars and minibuses were allowed to pass, and once the truck was completely removed, the highway was reopened to traffic.

The truck driver Serkan Şengül described the events with the following words: "We took a bypass to get past the bridge. Unfortunately, the vehicle got stuck. We had a bit of trouble, but we managed to rescue the vehicle. We will continue on the road."
