Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, replacing Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, while Ahmet Olmuştur has been appointed as the General Manager of THY, replacing Bilal Ekşi.
With the management change at Turkish Airlines, Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of THY. NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD AND GENERAL MANAGER OF THY Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines (THY), replacing Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, while Ahmet Olmuştur has been appointed as the General Manager of THY, replacing Bilal Ekşi.
According to a statement from the THY Communication Directorate, new names have been assigned to the positions of the board of directors and general management in line with the company's corporate goals.
Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker, who has been managing critical areas such as finance, treasury, and investor relations within the company for many years, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines.
As part of this management change, Ahmet Olmuştur has been appointed as the General Manager (CEO) of Turkish Airlines.
WHO IS MURAT ŞEKER? Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker graduated from the Industrial Engineering department of Marmara University in 2000, obtained a Master's degree in Economics from Sabancı University, and earned a PhD in economics from the University of Minnesota.
Continuing his career with significant roles on the international stage, Prof. Dr. Şeker served as an economist at the World Bank from 2008 to 2013, participated in many projects in developing countries in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, international trade, and growth, and produced policy reports and academic studies.
THY Board Chairman Murat Şeker Prof. Dr. Şeker, who served as the Head of Financial Institutions and Investor Relations at Ziraat Bank from 2013 to 2016, managed the bank's international financing activities and held board memberships at Ziraat Investment, Ziraat Life and Pension, and Ziraat Insurance during the same period.
Appointed as the Deputy General Manager of THY in July 2016, Prof. Dr. Şeker took over the management of critical areas such as finance, treasury operations, accounting, procurement, and investor relations. As of March 2021, he also holds the positions of Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of THY, and he serves as a Board Member at Turkish Airlines Technical Inc. and SunExpress.
Since 2024, Prof. Dr. Şeker has been a member of the Financial Advisory Council established by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and has been serving as its president since 2025. Actively engaged in academic work, Şeker served as a part-time instructor at Boğaziçi University from 2015 to 2018 and received the title of Professor in December 2025. Prof. Dr. Şeker is married and has three children.
WHO IS AHMET OLMUŞTUR? Ahmet Olmuştur, who has been appointed as the General Manager of THY, was born in Istanbul in 1980.
Completing his undergraduate education in the Business Administration Department of Marmara University, Olmuştur obtained his MBA degree through an international program conducted in collaboration with Long Island University (New York), European Business School (London), and Pöle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci (Paris).
Olmuştur's career journey began part-time at the THY Call Center in 2000. He solidified his field experience gained at one of the institution's most fundamental contact points through the roles he took on over the years, achieving a remarkable success story that led him to the highest management position at THY.
THY General Manager Ahmet Olmuştur After serving as a Flight Analyst in the Revenue Management Department at THY, Olmuştur held critical positions such as General Distribution Systems Manager, Revenue Management and Pricing Manager, and Revenue Management Director, and has served as the Deputy General Manager responsible for Marketing and Sales since 2014.
Since 2024, Olmuştur has been leading the company's commercial activities as the Deputy General Manager.
Throughout his career, Olmuştur has made significant contributions in various strategic areas, including flight network planning, revenue management and pricing strategies, sales and marketing activities, customer experience applications, and the Miles&Smiles loyalty program. He also continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of SunExpress Airlines, a member of the Board of Directors of Turkish Airlines Technical Inc., and a member of the IATA Distribution Advisory Council.
Additionally, Olmuştur has taken on active roles in important institutions such as the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Foundation for Islamic Science History Research, the Turkish Golf Federation, the Tourism Development and Education Foundation, and the Turkish National Olympic Committee. He is married and has three children.
