A truck hit a car stopped on the emergency lane due to a malfunction at the Kocaeli crossing of the TEM Highway. In the accident, 7-year-old E.M. from the same family lost his life, and 3 people were injured.
In the Kocaeli section of the TEM Highway, a truck crashed into an irrigation canal after hitting a car stopped on the hard shoulder due to a breakdown, resulting in the death of E.M. (7) from the same family and injuring 3 people.
The accident occurred around 02:00 in the Maşukiye neighborhood area of the Kartepe section of the TEM Highway. A car with license plate 34 FUN 897, driven by I.M., broke down on the road and was pulled to the hard shoulder by its driver. While I.M. and his wife G.M. were checking the vehicle, a truck with trailer license plate 27 ANA 796, whose driver's name could not be determined, hit the car.
7-YEAR-OLD CHILD LOSES LIFE
Due to the impact, the car was dragged, while the truck crashed into trees on the roadside and overturned into the irrigation canal. Upon notification by bystanders, gendarmerie, fire department, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical teams determined that E.M. (7) inside the car had died.
TRUCK DRIVER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Injured I.M., his wife G.M., and the couple's other child were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances. Following the work of crime scene investigation teams, E.M.'s body was taken to Kocaeli State Hospital morgue for autopsy. It was learned that the truck driver was taken to the gendarmerie station to give a statement.
An investigation has been launched into the accident.
